How To Test The Signup Or Checkout Flow In An App Built With AI
3 min read

Before launching an app, check a complete customer journey, such as signup, checkout or the first task. A working screen is only one part of the path from the landing page to confirmation.
Pick One Journey
Choose the path where a failure costs you most. For a store, it is browsing to payment. For a booking app, it is picking a time and confirming. Write it as steps a new person would take: where they start, what they click, what they should see at the end.
Run It Like A Stranger
Use a fresh browser profile or a private window and a dedicated test account, not your admin account. For checkout, use the supported test environment and synthetic payment data; confirm what a submit action does before clicking it. Follow the steps exactly and without shortcuts. Do not rely on what you know about how the app works. Note anything that confuses you, even if it eventually works.
Test Desktop And Phone
Run the same journey on a laptop and on a phone. Check small-screen issues such as buttons off the edge, fields hidden by the keyboard, or a confirmation that never appears. If you can, try more than one phone or browser.
Record What Breaks
For each problem, write what you did, what you expected and what happened. A hypothetical example: "On the phone, after entering a card, the pay button stays disabled." Include enough steps for another tester to reproduce the problem.
Rank And Fix
Sort findings by whether they block the journey, damage trust or are cosmetic. Fix blockers first. Then run the whole journey again, because a fix in one place can break another.
If You Want It Tested For You
With the One Flow Test, VERTX runs one agreed journey through your app on desktop and mobile and sends back prioritized findings with reproduction steps and fix direction for each issue, within 72 hours. Bring the journey, the expected result and approved test access.
