Where To List Your Product So People Can Find It And Share It

4 min read

You built the thing. The next problem is quieter and harder: the people who might share it - newsletter writers, creators, marketers looking for their next recommendation - have no idea it exists. Paid ads are one answer, but they are not the only one. A product listing board exists for exactly this gap: makers list what they built, and people looking for things worth sharing browse it.

The PLTFORM Promotion Board is one such board, from the same family of sites as this one. Listing is free, every listed product gets its own page with a link to your site, and each listing is reviewed by a person before it goes up.

What A Listing Actually Does

A listing is a findable page for your product outside your own site. Someone browsing the board can read your tagline and description, see your logo, and follow the link to your product. That is the honest scope of it: a place to be found by people already looking for products to share. A board is a shelf, not a spotlight by itself. Being on it makes your product available to the people browsing; whether they pick it up still depends on your product and how clearly your page explains it. Treat the listing as one durable piece of distribution you set up once, alongside everything else you do.

Write The Listing For A Skimmer

The listing form asks for a product name, URL, tagline, category and description, with an optional logo, screenshots and founder details. The tagline does the most work, because it is what a browser sees first. Make it say what the product does and who it is for, in plain words. "Invoices for freelance landscapers" beats "reimagining billing workflows" every time.

The description can carry the detail the tagline can't: the problem, the approach, what makes it worth someone's recommendation. Write it for a creator deciding whether their audience would thank them for sharing it. A fictional example: a maker of a habit-tracking app for shift workers might lead with "habit tracking that works around rotating schedules," because that is the specific reason a creator's audience would care.

Prepare your images before you submit. The form takes a square-friendly logo and up to three screenshots, so pick screens that show the product working, not your login page.

Package What You Share

A listing gives people a page to share. Make that page share well. When someone posts your link, the preview image is often the first thing their audience sees, so set one deliberately: the free Social Preview Image tool builds a 1200 by 630 image from your title, subtitle and brand colors, ready to connect to your page's metadata.

And when you share the listing or your product link yourself - in a newsletter, a post, a community - tag the links so you can tell which channel actually sent people. The free UTM Link Builder adds consistent source, medium and campaign tags to any link, which keeps your analytics readable later. "The board" and "your own post about the board" are different sources; tag them differently or you won't be able to tell them apart.

List It, Then Keep Sharing

Start with the free listing: open the Promotion Board, choose "List Your Product Free," and fill in the form with the tagline and description you prepared. A person reviews each listing before it appears, so submit something you would be happy to have represent the product.

Then do the part no board can do for you: share your own listing, tell the people who already follow you, and keep the listing current as the product changes. The board makes you findable. The sharing is still yours.
