How To Make A vCard QR Code For Contact Details

3 min read

A contact QR code lets someone scan your details instead of typing them from a business card. The useful result is a contact they can save with the right name, phone number and email address.

The free vCard QR tool takes your name and optional company, role, phone, email and website. Add a name to generate the code, then download a PNG or SVG for your card or booth banner.

Choose The Details You Want To Hand Out

Start with the audience. For a business event, that might mean a work email, a business phone and your company website. Leave out details you do not want people receiving the card to have.

Use fictional details while trying the form. For example, a sample consultant called Avery Morgan could enter a name, a role and a company, then check the preview before adding communication fields. Use your own approved details when making the version you will share.

Check spelling, phone digits and the website address before downloading. A correct-looking QR image can still carry an incorrect email address if that is what you entered.

Scan And Check The Offered Contact

Use a second phone to scan the preview. Inspect the contact it offers to save: does the name appear correctly, and do the company, role and communication fields land where you expect?

Then test the fields that matter. Check that the website opens the intended page and that the email and phone values match the details you meant to share. If your audience uses different phones or contact apps, test more than one when you can.

Make this check before putting the code into a printed design. Recognizing the QR code is the first step; saving useful contact details is the result you want.

Place It In The Final Design

Choose PNG or SVG to suit your design workflow. PNG gives you an image file; SVG can keep the code's edges sharp when scaled in a compatible editor.

Keep the code square, with clear space around it and strong contrast. Avoid placing text or decoration across the pattern. Leave enough room on the card for someone to point a phone at it without covering the code.

Check a proof at the size you will actually print. A large preview on your screen is easier to scan than a small code on paper. Scan the final-size proof and inspect the offered contact again before ordering a batch of cards.

Make Your Contact Code

Open vCard QR, add the details you intend to share and download the format your layout needs. Scan the downloaded file, check the contact fields and repeat the scan on your final-size design.
