A Brand Consistency Audit You Can Run Before A Launch Or Redesign
3 min read

A brand looks inconsistent when the website says one thing, the social profiles another and the emails a third. Compare the names, descriptions and contact details before a launch or redesign so you can list what needs updating.
List Every Place People Meet You
Write down your website pages, social profiles, email signature, newsletter, proposals, invoices and any listings. You cannot check what you have not listed.
Check The Same Things Everywhere
For each place, check the name and spelling of your business and products, the one-line description, the voice, logo and colors, contact details and the main claim you make. A hypothetical example: the website says "Harbor Design Studio" while the invoice says "Harbor Studio". Check whether each name is an intended legal or trading name before changing it, especially on invoices.
Score What You Find
Give each item a simple mark: matches, partly matches or does not match. A score lets you compare before and after, and shows which channels drift most.
Fix In Order
Start with what people see most, and what could confuse or mislead them: wrong names, outdated descriptions and mismatched contact details. Leave small visual differences for later.
Write Down The Standard
Keep the correct name, description and style notes in one place so the next person updates things the same way. Repeat the audit before the next major change.
If You Want A Ready Checklist
The Brand Consistency Checklist turns this audit into a 40-point checklist with a scoring sheet and a fix-order guide, so you can score your website and channels in about an hour. Bring your list of pages and channels, and work through it against the places customers actually see.
