How To Check Your Brand In AI Search Answers
3 min read
Check what AI search answers say about your product and which sources they cite. Use the results to identify unclear or outdated facts you can correct on your own pages.
See What They Say Now
Ask several AI tools the questions your customers might ask, such as "what is a good tool for X". Note whether you are mentioned, what is said and which sources are cited. This is your baseline.
Say What You Are Plainly
Make sure your site states what the product is, who it is for and what it does in simple sentences. Ambiguous marketing language is hard for anyone to summarize.
Keep Facts Consistent
Check that your name, description, features and category match across your site, directories and profiles. Correct conflicting facts at the pages you control.
Earn Mentions Elsewhere
AI answers draw on sources beyond your own site. Check whether independent articles and listings describe your product accurately. A hypothetical example is a directory entry with an outdated feature description. Record the discrepancy and ask the publisher to review it.
Answer Real Questions
Publish pages that answer the questions people ask, with clear headings and direct answers. Keep them accurate and up to date.
Recheck Regularly
Repeat your questions every few weeks and note changes. Fix inaccurate descriptions at the source where you can.
If You Want A Guide
AEO for Brands is a guide on exactly this: getting your product named in AI search recommendations. Keep your baseline answers and the source discrepancies you found as the brief for that review.
