Is Your Business Ready For An Affiliate Program?

3 min read

Recruiting partners before the basics are in place wastes their time and your reputation. A short check shows what to fix first.

The free Affiliate Readiness Score asks ten yes-or-no questions and gives you a score out of 10.

What The Ten Questions Cover

They ask whether you have a product people already pay for, can track which sales came from a link or code, can afford to pay 20% or more per sale, have a page that converts visitors, know your best customers, have written affiliate terms, have images, copy or demos partners can reuse, can pay partners on a set schedule, know five creators your customers follow, and can answer partner questions within a day.

Read The Gaps, Not Only The Score

A low score is information. If tracking is the gap, fix that before anything else, because you cannot pay partners fairly without it. Terms and payouts come next, since partners will ask about both before they promote.

A Fictional Example

A small software maker answers yes to the product and the landing page, but no to tracking and terms. The check points to the same order of work: set up referral tracking, write the terms, then recruit.

Be Honest With Yourself

The score is a self-assessment. It does not test your site or tracking, so answer only yes where you could show it. If you are unsure, treat that answer as no until you have checked.

Act On The Result

Turn each "no" into a task. Set tracking first, then terms, then payouts, then materials, and run the check again after.

Take The Check

Open the Affiliate Readiness Score, answer the ten questions and note which ones you answered no to. Fix those before you start recruiting.
