How To List Your New App On A Promotion Board And Get Seen
3 min read
You built something. Now nobody knows it exists. For a new app the first problem is usually not features but being found by the few people who might share it or try it.
One option is the PLTFORM promotion board, a board where independent makers list what they built. Its page says creators and marketers browse it to find their next thing to share, that listing is free and that every product gets its own page.
What A Free Listing Gives You
According to the board page, a free listing includes your own product page and a card on the board with a link to your app. It costs nothing to start, so it is a sensible first step for a new product.
What The Paid Rows Add
The board page describes two upgrades. Featured adds a place in the Featured row on the homepage and the board, and your links on your page. Spotlight adds a large card in a row above Featured, up to three screenshots and a founder photo, and is limited to three spots. Both are listed as monthly subscriptions, with a yearly option.
A bigger spot is more visibility on that board. It does not promise visitors, sign-ups or sales, so decide what you want from it before you pay.
Prepare Your Page First
Before you list, make sure a stranger can understand the app in one line and start using it from the link. Write a specific description. A fictional example: "A booking page for dog groomers" says more than "A scheduling platform".
Test the link on a phone, check that sign-up works and have a few clear screenshots ready. Attention is wasted on a page that is not ready.
Choose What To Pay For
Start free and see what the listing sends your way. If the page converts the people who arrive and you want more of them, then consider a larger placement. If it does not convert, fix the page first, since more traffic to a weak page repeats the weakness.
Track Where Visitors Come From
Add a tag to your board link so your analytics can separate visitors from the board from other sources. Look at what they do after they arrive, not only how many come.
Ask For Feedback
People who browse for products to share often have opinions. Treat early clicks as a chance to learn what confuses people, and fix it.
List Your App
Open the promotion board, read the listing options and start with the free listing once your page is ready.
