Why Your Outbound Isn't Booking Meetings: What To Audit First
3 min read
When outbound is not producing meetings, review targeting, delivery, messages and follow-up together. Record where the evidence shows a failure before rewriting the sequence.
For an outside review, The Teardown is a private teardown of an outbound engine.
Start With The List
Check who you are emailing. Are they the right type of company and role? Are the addresses valid? Check whether the recipients match your offer and sending permissions.
Check That Mail Arrives
Look at bounce rates and whether messages reach the inbox. Inspect bounce or deferral responses and received-message authentication before changing the copy.
Read The Sequence Like A Prospect
Read your messages as the recipient. Is it clear who you are, why you wrote and what you want? Is each email specific to their situation? A hypothetical example is a first email that opens with a paragraph about your company instead of their problem.
Look At Replies
Sort replies into interested, not now, wrong person and unsubscribe. A high share of "wrong person" points to targeting. Few replies alone do not identify the cause; compare them with delivery evidence and the audience. Honor unsubscribe requests.
Check The Handoff
When someone replies with interest, how fast does a person follow up, and what happens next? Check whether interested replies received the promised next step.
Fix In Order
Fix the earliest broken step first, then recheck. Improvements further down the chain do little if an earlier step is leaking.
If You Want An Outside Review
The product page for The Teardown describes a private teardown of your outbound engine, with what is broken, in what order and the fixes that matter, in a five-page written report.
Open the product page to review the report scope before buying. Prepare the data you are authorized to share and confirm how it will be transferred and handled.
