AI Literacy and Human Skills
Using AI Well
Lesson 7 of 10 - 11 min
Be Honest About AI Use
Say when AI helped, where it matters. Schools, clients and employers have different rules, so check them. You stay responsible for the final work.
Good practice
- Keep notes on how you used the tool.
- Disclose it where rules or trust call for it.
- Don't present generated work as your own research.
- Edit until it sounds like you.
Example (fictional)
A student uses AI to outline an essay and tells the teacher, as the course rules allow. Another uses it to write the whole essay and says nothing. The first is working honestly within the rules. The second risks real consequences.
Common mistakes
- Hiding AI use where rules require disclosure.
- Presenting generated content as your own research.
- Not editing, so it doesn't sound like you.
Exercise
Write your own two-line rule for when you will mention AI use, and to whom.
